Time to "Shovel Out"

Winter is coming to an end…finally. Not that spring is here. No, those of us living in the North know better than to put our snow shovels away. There's always a couple storms in March and usually one good dumping in April too!

But we know how to handle snow. Shovelling is a time-honoured tradition up here. Sure it's not always pleasant—especially when the snowplough goes by ten minutes after you're done!—but it is necessary. And doing what is necessary is what sets Northerners apart.

The NOP is all about necessities. Protecting our region and our way of life from ignorant Toronto politicians is one such necessity.

Make no mistake…all the other parties are beholden to Toronto. Winning in the 905 district means more to the Liberals, PC, and NDP than all the ridings in the North. Elections are won and lost in Toronto. We're an afterthought and always will be in Ontario.

Our only hope is forming our own province. Self-government—from the North for the North.

It sounds far-fetched, true. Because no one at Queen's Park takes us seriously. To them we will never be more than the frontier; hewers of wood and diggers of ore. Incapable of surviving alone. Dependent upon them to take care of us.

How's that been going? Our roads crumble. Our hospitals burst with patients. Our young people are denied opportunities. Unemployment soars in the North. Drug abuse runs rampant. We live in perpetual under-service. But nothing gets done. Not by Ontario's Toronto-centric premier and not by her equally beholden MPP's

So Northerners, get out your shovels. Scoop up all the useless south-Ontario politicians and dump them (and their prejudices) to the side. It's time to scrape the political system down to the pavement. Vote for the NOP and set our region on a brighter path.
