Our Fair Share

Elections bring out the worst in people. Name-calling, unsustainable promises, and worse…an "us versus them" mentality that sows division and hard-feelings.
Northerners have had enough of that: provincial politicians badmouth our region in the halls of Queen's Park, campaigning party leaders pledge billions of dollars hoping to blind us to their still unfulfilled promises from last election, and the media does its best to drive a wedge between citizens—pointing out economic and social inequities with ever-more inflammatory language.
The Northern Ontario Party refuses to engage in traditional politics. We want to bring a new kind of campaign to Ontario. An honest and hopeful campaign.
Living in the north is a choice. A choice that hundreds of thousands of Ontarian's have embraced. Call our region "the sticks" or "the bush" or any of a hundred other insults…it doesn't matter. We're happy here. Or we would be if we could just get our fair share.
What is "our fair share"?
It's not about money, but rather control.
Thanks to the monumental population disparity between North and South—the North will have 13 seats up for grabs in the 2018 election compared to 111 for the South—we have almost no say over what happens in our own province.
Decisions affecting the North are routinely made by people who've never travelled past their Muskoka cottage! Not only do they not represent us, they don't even know us.
And that's where the NOP come in.
We understand that the priorities of the North are different because we share them. Our way of life is less frantic but that doesn't make it "backward". We deserve respect—something we will never get from traditional political parties. The only times the Liberals, PCs, and NDPs pay attention to our region is when courting our votes!
Don't sell the North's voice for some promised "magic beans". This isn't a fairy tale. Consider the Northern Ontario Party—we want what you want and will fight to get it.
